A Greedy Algorithm Estimating the Height of Random Trees

چکیده

The behaviour of a greedy algorithm which estimates the height of a random labelled rooted tree is studied. A self-similarity argument is used to characterize the limit distribution of the length H of the path found by such an algorithm in a random rooted tree as the unique solution of an integral equation. Furthermore, it is shown that lim n!1 E H p n = p 2 2 p 2 ln(3 + 2 p 2) = 2 : 353139::: ; i.e. the expected length of the path constructed by the algorithm is roughly 93% of the expected height of a random rooted tree.

Estimating Height and Diameter Growth of Some Street Trees in Urban Green Spaces

Estimating urban trees growth, especially tree height is very important in urban landscape management. The aim of the study was to predict of tree height base on tree diameter. To achieve this goal, 921 trees from five species were measured in five areas of Mashhad city in 2014. The evaluated trees were ash tree (Fraxinus species), plane tree (Platanus hybrida), white mulberry (Morus alba), ail...

A Study on the Accuracy and Precision of Estimation of the Number, Basal Area and Standing Trees Volume per Hectare Using of some Sampling Methods in Forests of NavAsalem

The present study aimed to investigate the accuracy and precision estimation of the number, basal area and volume of the standing trees by methods of random and systematic random sampling in the forests of West Guilan. The cost or inventory time was determined using the criteria (E%2 × T). Inventory was carried out by complete sampling (census) in an area of 52 hectares. The study area (sect...

Development of an allometric model to estimate above-ground biomass of forests using MLPNN algorithm, case study: Hyrcanian forests of Iran

This research develops an allometric model for estimation of biomass based on the height and DBH of trees in the Hyrcanian forests of Iran. An accurate allometric model reduces the uncertainty of allometric equation in biomass estimation using radar images. In this study, 317 trees were selected randomly from the 4 different dominant tree species for the development of an allometric model cover...

Study on the effect of forest stand distribution pattern on results of different estimators of the nearest individual distance method

The Nearest Individual Sampling Method is one of the distance sampling methods for estimating density, canopy cover and height of forest stands. Some distance sampling methods have more than one density estimator that may be skewed to the spatial pattern. Unless the stands of the trees under study have a random spatial pattern. Therefore, the purpose of this study was evaluating the effect of s...
